Mr Richmond Amoah, known in private life as Nana Amoah, is a Chief Technician in the Works and Physical Development Office and a long-serving member of the University. He is a Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) member and has been in service for 38 years. Mr Amoah hails from Abura Obohen in the Central Region of Ghana. He had his primary education at the Aboase Obohen D/C Middle School and continued at the Asuansi Technical Institute, where he attained the Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery Intermediate from the City and Guilds of London Institute in 1985.
Mr Amoah was first appointed at the then University of Science and Technology (UST) popularly known as the School of Mines on 1st November 1985 as a 4th Year Apprentice Carpenter in the Building and Maintenance Department. In January 1990, upon furthering his education and acquiring an Advanced Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery at the Takoradi Polytechnic, he was promoted to the position of Technical Assistant II, and Technical Assistant I in 1995. He was later appointed Head of the Carpentry Shop in October 1998 having exhibited diligence and commitment to duty. He again rose through the ranks of Technician (1998), Acting Senior Estate Assistant (2007), Senior Technician (2010), Principal Technician (2016) and is currently a Chief Technician in the Works and Physical Development Office and has displayed and maintained great self-discipline, good human relations, and is a staunch employee of the University.
Nana Amoah is a lively individual who loves playing cards during his leisure and enjoys the local Fante tribal delicacy ‘Bankye Ampesi’ as his favourite meal. He holds the chieftaincy title Nana Kojo Kyea II, Gyasehen (Chief) of the Abeadze Odumasi in the Central Region. He upholds strong moral, social and religious values and is married to Madam Victoria Akora with whom they have four (4) children; three (3) sons and a daughter. He believes that his long service was driven by the exposure from the University on the importance of education which has guided and motivated him to see his children attain higher levels of education.
Throughout his years of service, Mr Amoah has exhibited a strong sense of commitment, creativity, diligence and good leadership qualities which earned him the award of Best Worker for the Senior Staff Category of the University for the 2021/2022 academic year.
