The UMaT Students Displaying their Prizes
In April, 2019, an all female team known as RAGAN from the Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mining Engineering Departments of UMaT were winners of the Health-Care Sector and the Most Promising All Female Team at the 2019 HackLab Hackathon Competition held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. They received a cash of Two thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢2,000.00) as their prize. The team was also awarded the third price, worth USD 20 voucher as the Most Promising Female Team by RingCaptcha, one of the sponsoring companies. The competition brought together 128 teams with 18.86% being females. The RAGAN team presented a project on a web application titled Babynet - a block-chain powered mobile and web application for tracking a child’s health and immunisation records.
