Dr Eric Neebo Wiah Nominated to Attend the Indian Ocean African Island Operational NWP & EWS Workshop in Seychelles

Dr Eric Neebo Wiah, a Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, Ghana, has been nominated to attend the Indian Ocean African Island Operational NWP and EWS Workshop in Seychelles from the 22nd to 26th February, 2016. The Workshop which is a follow up of the African SIDS Operational NWP and EWS Workshop held in Cabo Verde in September, 2015, is being organized by the United Nations Commission for Africa (UNECA).
The Workshop is expected to bring together participants from African Islands, RCCs, International Agencies and WMO regional offices. In Africa, the Workshop will use the UNECA/ClimDev African SIDs and continental operational NWP systems that is currently been deployed in Africa.
Dr Wiah holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Philosophy degree in Mathematics from the KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana in 2007 and 2010 respectively. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from UMaT in 2015. His current research interest focuses on applying discrete and continuous element modeling to transportation reactions, mineral separation and size reduction. Additionally, his research interests include numerical weather and climate prediction, regional climate modelling using WRF.
