As part of the preparatory competitions leading to the grand finale of the Tertiary Edition of the Gas Challenge slated for 14th November, 2019, the Ghana Gas Planning Committee (GGPC) organised the Zone 2 Quiz Competition on UMaT Campus on 15th October, 2019. The Zone 2 competition was keenly contested by the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT). This was a 5-Round knockout competition. The Quiz Mistress was Mrs Emmanuella Kwao-Boateng. At the end of the 5th Round, UMaT emerged winners with 73.5 points followed by TTU with 46 points and then UCC with 45 points.

According to Madam Augustina Asare Osei, the Senior Manager, Government Relations and the Chairperson of the Gas Challenge Committee, the Gas Challenge is an inter tertiary quiz competition that seeks to educate the general public on the domestic use of gas, the economic opportunities along the gas value chain, health and safety matters related to the use of gas among others.

Also present at the event were, Mr Emmanuel Moses, Senior Manager for Construction for Ghana Gas, who represented the CEO of Ghana Gas, Mr Harrison Seth Kwablah Ayim, Research Officer, Government Relations, Ms Sophia Kwakye-Marfo, an Officer at the Government Relations Department, Mr Benjamin Kwaku Abusuayedom Asare an Officer, Government Relations Department, Mr Enoch Ayensu Asare, office of the CEO, Mr Peter Amissah-Hagan, Commercial Department and Mr Kofi Kyei Baffour, Finance Department

Also present were the Pro Vice Chancellor of TTU, Prof Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah and the MCE of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mr Gilbert Ken Asmah. Some Students from Tarkwa SHS and Fiaseman SHS were also present.
