UMaT Inaugurates New University Council

A new University Council for the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) under the chairmanship of Prof. Bruce Bannoeng- Yakubu has been inaugurated and sworn into office at a short ceremony at Tarkwa by Justice Robin Batu, Supervising High Court Judge of Western Region.

 


Other members of the Council representing the government include Dr. Tony Kwesi, Aubynn, Corporate Affairs Manager, Goldfields Ghana Limited, Dr. Ebenezer Hayford of Geology Department, University of Ghana, Ms. Mawuena Dumor, Corporate Services Executive, MTN and Mrs. Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, DCE for Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa.

The others are Prof. D. Mireku-Gyimah Vice Chancellor, Prof. J. S. Kuma and Dr. Martin Kodua, representatives of convocation, Mr. A. A. Mensah, Alumni nominee with Mr. Thomas Nkrumah and Mr. Bismark Offei-Kusi, representing senior and junior staff respectively.

The rest are Mr. T. K. Mensah, CHASS nominee, Messrs Samuel Aggrey and Boris Sibli-Boli representing postgraduate and undergraduate students with Ms. Joyce Aryee as a nominee of the Ghana Chamber of Mines

Speaking on behalf of members later, the Chairman Prof. Banoeng-Yakubu, a geologist and Dean of Students of the University of Ghana said the Council’s deliberations and activities would be guided by objectivity devoid of politics to promote the development of the University.
