Vice Chancellor delivers a Public Lecture at the Chamber of Mines
On the 18th November, 2008 as part of the 80th Anniversary celebrations of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, the Vice Chancellor of the Unviersity of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Prof. Daniel Mireku-Gyimah delivered a public lecture at the International Conference Center, Accra Ghana on the topic:
"Mining and Social Responsibility: An Exemplary Model for Quality Life"
The theme for the anniversary was "without mining, there can be no life". Prof. Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, selected this topic because he thinks Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of mining companies has become very topical, especially in Ghana where many people think, wrong though, that the development of a mining community or mining town is the sole responsibility of the mining company in or near that town.
